The Sauna
Dry sauna is hyperthermic procedure with changing thermal stimuli. It is used for many centuries for cleansing, and consolidating health in the Nordic countries. We can achieve with sauna: reduction of muscle tension, improve the extent of movements in the joints, muscle and mental relaxation, increase metabolism. The sauna stimulates the system of glands with internal secretion, and positive affects imunity. It brings relief in the form of wellness and retreat swelling, pain in limbs and joints, softens stiff muscles.
It is recommended for:
- the treatment of upper respiratory tract,
- disorders of locomotor system,
- insomnia,
- allergies.
In addition to medical reasons, the sauna has aesthetic-cosmetic effect too. It has a beneficial effect on skin moisture. It maintains the skin in its natural state, despite an increase in sweating. It prevents infiltration of the infection, bacteria, yeasts and molds.
The sauna contraindications:
- all acute and febrile diseases,
- infectious, communicable, parasitic diseases
- epilepsy
- deterioration of all chronic diseases
- diseases of glands with internal secretion,
- disease of glands with internal secretion, treatment with corticosteroids,
- diseases of cancers,
- susceptibility to bleeding,
- age over 70 years, if the person has not been in sauna yet
- state after a heart attack and cerebral vascular accident, without complications after 3 months (after medical examination)
- all heart and vascular diseases, after consultation with the specialist
Recommendations for the sauna:
- before entering the sauna begin intimate hygiene cleaning of the body parts (with soap and water)
- before entering the sauna, and after cooling carefully dry the whole body
Phase of sauna
phase – sweating
- to cover the place where we are sitting with towel, always by the same side in the sauna
- before the end of the stay in the sauna sitting (circulating adaptation)
- before the end of the stay in the sauna sitting (circulating adaptation)
- length of staying in the sauna is an individual about 5 - 15 minutes (to achieve a feeling of desire when it has cooled)
phase – cooling
- cooling following after sweating. Cooling represents a significant cardiovascular burden, therefore we choose it gently and individually, we cool by various thermal tolerance and under condition (cool shower from the lower limbs, immersion in cold pool, etc.).
phase – relaxation
- The rest with the overall release after sweating and cooling should take about 10-30 minutes. You should have a rest in lying position or sitting. Very important is drinking (mineral water, fruit juices, etc.).
- The procedures such as massage, swimming is appropriate after the rest period
